Professional. Gentle. Five-Star Care — From the Inside Out.

Dog grooming is back at Five Star Dog Resort — and it’s better than ever. Dog grooming in Alpharetta is now available at Five Star, led by certified groomer Mara-Logan Henderson, who first built her connection with Five Star before going on to complete her professional grooming education and returning home to bring that expertise back to the dogs and families she loves working with.

Whether your dog is stopping in after a boarding stay, finishing up a training program, or coming in for a standalone grooming appointment, the experience is built around the same philosophy that has guided Five Star since 2008: your dog’s comfort, confidence, and well-being come first — always.

🎉  Limited-Time Welcome Offer  — To celebrate Mara’s return, Five Star Dog Resort is offering 25% off all full grooms and 10% off all mini grooms for a limited time. Call (678) 867-2001 to book your appointment with Mara.

Meet Mara-Logan Henderson — Certified Dog Groomer

Mara-Logan Henderson isn’t new to Five Star Dog Resort — she’s coming home. Mara first began her journey here before pursuing her passion for dogs professionally, completing her grooming education at the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology, where she accumulated more than 600 hours of hands-on training. She has been grooming professionally since 2019, and the experience, skill, and genuine love for the work she’s developed along the way are evident in everything she does.

As a dog groomer in Alpharetta, Mara brings a kind, thoughtful approach to every appointment. She is dedicated to making sure every pet feels comfortable, safe, and well cared for from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. She never rushes, never forces, and always reads the dog in front of her rather than working from a fixed routine.

Mara has a particular soft spot for senior dogs, taking the extra time and gentle care needed to make their visits as easy and comfortable as possible — understanding that older pets often need a different pace and a more patient hand. She also loves the creative side of grooming, helping each dog look and feel their very best with a style that suits their individual personality and coat.

Outside of the grooming room, Mara is a Canicross athlete who enjoys long-distance running with her dog, River. As a service dog handler, she understands first-hand just how deep and meaningful the bond between a dog and their person can be — and she brings that same level of care and compassion to every pet she grooms.

Puppy Grooming in Alpharetta — Starting on the Right Paw

A puppy’s first grooming experience matters more than most owners realize. Handled well, it becomes something the dog learns to enjoy. Rushed or overwhelming, it can set the tone for a lifetime of grooming anxiety.

Mara’s approach to puppy grooming in Alpharetta is rooted in patience and positive association. Sessions are calm, unhurried, and paced entirely to the puppy — never the clock. Young dogs leave knowing grooming is nothing to fear, and that foundation stays with them for life.

Puppies already enrolled in a training or boarding program at Five Star can have grooming incorporated into their stay, making the whole experience one seamless, familiar visit from start to finish.

Senior Dog Grooming — Extra Care for Every Gray Muzzle

Senior dogs deserve a grooming experience that matches their pace. Older pets can find grooming more tiring, more sensitive, or more overwhelming than they once did — and they need a groomer who recognizes that and adjusts accordingly.

It’s one of Mara’s favorite areas of work. She takes the extra time, applies the extra gentleness, and gives senior dogs the space they need to feel comfortable throughout the process. If your older dog has struggled with grooming in the past, this is the environment — and the groomer — to give it another try.

How do I book a grooming appointment with Mara?

Appointment length depends on the dog’s size, coat type, and services booked. A standard appointment typically runs between 1.5 and 3 hours. Mara never rushes — the priority is always the dog’s experience.
Pricing starts at the rates listed and is based on coat condition at the time of the appointment. A coat that is matted or difficult to work through requires significantly more time and effort, which affects the final price. The starting rates apply to coats that are untangled and can be easily brushed through.
